Venice Beach is one of the must-sees of L.A. – a bohemian, anything goes beach enclave, filled with modern new age restaurants and trendy boutiques. We went as part of our California road trip, staying in an Airbnb near Abbot Kinney Boulevard.
I’ve put together a guide to the best Venice Beach Airbnbs based on the shortlist we made for our own trip. We’ve also made a guide to the best Airbnbs in Santa Monica, Venice’s neighbour.
And if you’re travelling with kids, see our guide to the best things to do in Los Angeles with kids and our guiding to getting the most out of Disneyland with little kids.

The Best of Airbnb Venice Beach
The 8 Best Airbnbs in Venice Beach, L.A.

Charming Craftsman
Live in a garden oasis in the middle of Venice Beach. Featuring vine-covered interior walls, a brick patio with lounge chairs, and a delightful outdoor shower, this unique guest house is nestled in the sunny backyard of a larger Craftsman home.
I really wanted to stay here on our California road trip, but the timings didn’t work out.
What the guests say: “We really enjoyed our stay at Susans and Kevins place. The house is just like the pictures with a lot of light and cool style. Eventhough it is on the backyard they have managed to make it feel private. As hosts they are great and always ready to help immediately if there is anything you need.”

Cactus Flower
Rejuvenate in this luxury modernist retreat with its own private desert-style cactus garden. This home offers sustainable living, with a fully indoor/outdoor connection, solar electric power, solar radiant floor heating, and organic bedding.
What the guests say: “Fabulous hidden gem perfectly positioned to explore all LA has to offer. Walking distance to Abbot Kinney, Venice and Santa Monica. In a quiet no through road close to a whole foods for ease. Amazing garden!”

Modern studio loft
You know it’s special when it’s been featured in an interiors magazine (in this case the LA Times home section). The large studio loft apartment, framed by huge 16ft bookshelves, is owned by an architect who designed the space. It’s also just one block from the beach, and has a private roof terrace.
What the guests say: “Brilliant space in a perfect location, a block from the beach. Designed by an architect, and it shows: polished concrete floors, stylish touches everywhere. This being Venice/Santa Monica, bikes are provided, and we used them to cycle to Santa Monica pier, which is a couple of miles away. Really enjoyed our stay.“

Tiny House Venice Beach
You know I love tiny houses and airstreams, so I had to feature this little place that is a blend of the two – a tiny house modelled on an airstream, complete with a private bathroom, queen bed and kitchenette. It’s a bright space with lots of quirky touches to create a tropical Aloha vibe. And the price is very reasonable for the area.
What the guests say: “The airstream is the ultimate Venice beach experience! Such a cute and cosy space – quirky, vintage touches everywhere you look, but also sparkling clean and all the amenities you’d need. Even though it’s located in a back yard it feels like a very private space.
“The best part is it being a short walk to the lively beach front, where you’ll have a lot of fun, especially on a bike, skateboard or skates! And more quirky places to eat and drink than you could fit in your trip.”

Spectacular roofdeck and spa
The main draw of this Venice Beach Airbnb is the communal rooftop, complete with fire pit, Jacuzzi, BBQ, and 360-degree views. The interiors are nothing particularly noteworthy, but offer a clean and comfortable stay with perks including surf and boogie boards for use.
What the guests say: “We stayed in Tom’s amazing house for 8 nights and had a fabulous home from home experience . The accommodation is beautifully presented to the highest of standards and immaculately clean. The roof terrace is stunning and a complete hit with the whole family.
“Tom is a very gracious host, easily contactable for any queries or to offer guidance on local services or best walks etc… Would thoroughly recommend this gem of a place to stay, which is only a skip and a hop to the beach, to anybody wanting to holiday in Venice beach or nearby Santa Monica.”

Venice Beach Guest Studio with Pool and Hot Tub
Discover a relaxing beach atmosphere in this Spanish architecture pool house featuring a private outdoor bathroom, sauna, three fire pits, and bikes to borrow for a ride down to the beach. Guests also have access to the owner’s pool and hot tub. Have bookmarked it for our next USA road trip.
What the guests say: “Jana’s place is absolutely amazing!!! The space inside is small but very thoughtfully arranged and didn’t feel cramped. It had everything we needed. The pool and hot tub were great! Jana kindly turned on the hot tub for us while we were out for dinner so it was hot for us when we got back.
“Jana is super friendly and gave us loads of tips. It was also in a great location! Would definitely recommend staying with Jana! Especially if you want something slightly different to the norm!“

Venice Oasis
This colourful Venice Beach Airbnb is full of character. Guests can pick tomatoes and herbs from the rooftop garden, and fire up the pizza oven with the ocean as a backdrop. It has a fun and eclectic design story bursting with colour, and has great perks such as a games room.
What the guests say: “This is a very special home. We’ve stayed in several Airbnbs in the Venice area – and this is above and beyond the best. The home is absolutely stunning – the (beautiful!) photos don’t even do it justice. Every room is tastefully designed with thoughtful touches. The furniture isn’t typical “rental home” furniture – it’s high-end and comfortable.
“The roof deck is massive – it has an ocean view (gorgeous for sunsets) and a wood fire pizza oven. You’re just steps from beach, situated on one of the private Venice walking streets. Sean was a great host – always easy to reach, great communicator, and helped us with whatever we needed! Will definitely be staying here again the next time we are in Venice.”

Silver Triangle Oasis
Dine beneath trees and strings of bulbs on a roomy patio filled with garden art and potted plants. On a quiet street in a prime Venice Beach location, the home has high vaulted ceilings and a balcony. Mid-century modern styling lends a beachy feel.
What the guests say: “We loved our stay! Arlene was a great host and gave us some fantastic recommendations for restaurants. The location is perfect, only a short walk from the beach and Abbot Kinney. The home is stylish with great amenities such as toiletries, good coffee & Netflix. It suited our family of five perfectly.”
