Where Route 66 ends at the iconic pier, Santa Monica has allured travelers for decades and is one of LA’s most cute neighbourhoods with a hippy yet chic vibe. It’s an obvious choice for where to stay in Los Angeles, right on the beach, and with an abundance of cafes, restaurants, farmers markets and all the hallmarks of LA life.
Here’s a round-up of the best Airbnbs in Santa Monica, LA. And we also have a guide to Airbnb Venice Beach, which is right next door.
We went there as part of the PCH section of our California road trip. Also see our guides to the best Airbnbs in Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, San Diego, Laguna Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Sonoma.
And if you’re travelling with kids, see our guide to the best things to do in Los Angeles with kids and how to get the most out of Disneyland with small children.

“Lynne was a great host – accommodating a very late arrival on our part due to a 3-hour delay to our flight. The house is stylish and clean with great amenities and the added bonus of outside space. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend! “

Santa Monica Home with Pool Table
Although I’m not a huge fan of the décor, this house is a gem in Santa Monica, with excellent facilities for a fun-filled stay – there’s even a pool table and a pinball machine. And the view from the roof terrace is gorgeous. Well located for the beach and Main Street.
What the guests say: “This was the most unique Airbnb we’ve stayed at! The design of the house allowed for us to hang out in different places without being on top of each other. This house is big! The two rooftop decks were amazing, especially on the 4th of July.
