Last updated on August 20, 2021

Mostero House Palm Springs VRBO

For a taste of the ultimate Palm Springs lifestyle, choose a vacation home with a pool – think lazy days sunbathing, followed by nights drinking cocktails by the water’s edge.

We’ve curated a guide to the best VRBO Palm Springs rentals with pools. Lots of them have a resort-style feel to them and are perfect for groups, some housing up to 12 people. And all are great examples of the classic Palm Springs mid-century style.

We also have a guide to the best hip boutique hotels in Palm Springs, and the best Joshua Tree cabins. We visited all these places as part of our epic California road trip.

10 Best VRBO Palm Springs Rentals with Pools

Mid-Century Modern Meets The Mountain

This 1970’s estate is in the Historic Tennis Club neighbourhood of Downtown Palm Springs, one of the city’s most prestigious areas. It’s less than a mile from the centre of downtown and right across the road from the North Lykken Hiking Trail. The four-bed home captures the essence of Palm Springs style and offers 360 degree views of the city and mountains.

What the guests say: “The property was wonderful – very spacious, comfortable, well maintained, awesome location (walking distance to downtown Palm Springs and directly across the street from a hiking trail head). Beautiful views, beautiful house inside and out, beautiful neighborhood (nice and quiet). A very relaxing and fun long weekend with the family! Property owners and property manager were all very friendly, responsive and flexible. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have extended it.”

Hilltop Hideaway

This 1964 mid-century modern ranch home is in the historical Chino Canyon neighborhood, high on a hillside at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains. The area is known for its stunning mountain views, celebrity residents and distinctive architecture. Stay here for a true Palm Springs experience in a home that epitomises modern, minimalist style. The resort-style garden has a pool, spa, outdoor dining space, desert gardens and fabulous views all around.

What the guests say: “We had a terrific stay at the Hilltop Hideaway. The house is very comfortable and attractive. Lots of fun midcentury details. It’s also spacious. Room for us to gather and room to grab privacy. Three dining areas provide possibilities no matter the temperature. There are two bedroom wings in the house which worked perfectly for us- we each had private rooms and bathrooms.

“The house is located in a quiet neighborhood minutes from downtown. We were able to walk from the house to two trailheads to hike and run.

“Daria, the property manager is very responsive and communicative. She made the stay even more pleasant. (Thank you!) We would definitely rent the home again.”

Cool 1960 Alexander Home

This three-bedroom 1960 Alexander home in Racquet Club Estates has a beautiful salt water pool and outdoor dining space. It’s just five minutes from downtown Palm Springs. And is a good value option for a Palm Springs rental with pool. The now renowned Alexander Construction Company made Palm Springs architecture accessible to those outside Hollywood, just as this place does today.

What the guests say: “This is a very cool home. We LOVED the big, private backyard and pool. The beds are super comfortable with nice linens. Kitchen is really well stocked with cooking and serving apparatus, and the binder of instructions and suggested activities & restaurants was helpful. (I would have loved a cheat sheet on the dishwasher though.) Just a perfect home for pure relaxation and Paul was a friendly and responsive host. He’s even offered to ship home an entire load of laundry we left in the dryer. (Doh!)”

Palm Springs Mid Century Getaway

The house is another Krisel-designed Alexander home in walking distance of North Palm Canyon Drive. With enough space for up to six guests, the outdoor space is a highlight with a modern pool, jetted spa, outdoor heating and dining space.

What the guests say: “This property is amazing! The house looked super clean and beautiful. It looks exactly like the pictures. The pool was even more amazing than we thought because it is well heated and we were even able to swim comfortably during one of the rainy days. The jacuzzi gets nice and hot and is perfect for nighttime relaxing spa time.

The yard was big and our dog really enjoyed it outside. Peri and Bob were very responsive and helpful prior to our trip and also during our trip. My boyfriend, dog, and I had an amazing time here and we will be sure to come back sometime!”

What the guests say: “Loved our stay at Mostero House. Whenever we go to Palm Springs we stay in this area (Las Palmas). The houses are amazing and this one was no exception. The house is spacious with bedrooms on opposite sides of the house (nice for a little privacy). The main living room was huge and beautifully decorated.

The only think I would change is the seating in the TV-watching room. The couch, while nice to look at, was not particularly comfortable for watching movies. But that was a small detail and we had an amazing stay and appreciated the change of scenery during the pandemic.”

Mid Century Estate, West Crescent Drive

The original 1959 Alexander home has been updated while still keeping that classic mid-century style. With six bedrooms, it’s the biggest on this list, and even comes complete with a spa big enough for 12 guests. The living space is high-end Palm Springs style at its best, blurring the lines between inside and out. The owners stress that it’s not a party house and will not take bachelor or bachelorette bookings. It’s in walking distance to downtown and has stunning mountain views.

What the guests say: “Well, I can’t begin to say how amazing this property was! There is not one stone left unturned in this magnificent home! From the chefs kitchen and supplies, the beautiful bed and bathrooms, the bar, the ice machine and finally the beautiful backyard equipped with daybeds! This place is a show stopper! Keith and Bruce could not have been more amazing, and mostly so thoughtful! Lastly the location is fantastic, quiet, beautiful and close to down town!! This is how every rental home should be set up! Again Spectacular! Thank you gentlemen for making our thanksgiving day special! We look forward to our next visit back!”

Apollo 1000

In the upscale Movie Colony, Apollo 1000 celebrates the Apollo Missions in part of its extensive art collection. It’s a high-style modernist option with lofty ceilings and designer furnishings, perfect for art lovers. It’s in walking distance of the city centre.

What the guests say: “Although this house is close to everything in Palm Springs, when you’re sitting by the pool you really feel separate from it all. It was a true treat to get away during this pandemic. We also took a day trip one day to Joshua Tree and that was only 45min away. The property managers are responsive and even available nights and weekends to help. Highly recommend!”
