What’s the best area to stay in Bath?
City Centre
The city centre is compact and home to all the main attractions and sights, so is the ideal place to stay to be in walking distance of practically everything you’ll want to do. Filled with Georgian buildings, there’s no end of beautiful places to stay.
Bathwick
Bathwick is also part of the city centre, but is the area to the east of the River Avon. All of Bath is pretty “posh”, but this is the most upscale district. It’s home to the iconic Great Pulteney Street, as well as many pretty gardens, mansions and museums.
Walcot
Walcot is Bath’s creative, hip area with lots of independent shops, boutiques and restaurants. It’s still in the city centre, and runs alongside the River Avon.

This Georgian Townhouse in the centre of the city is quite large, with two good-sized bedrooms, a cosy living room, dining room and kitchen. The living room is perfect for reading or streaming movies, while keeping cosy in front of the log burner. The house is tastefully decorated against a white palette, so that the decor really pops.
What the guests say: “Our family of four had a wonderful stay for a week and a half. This townhouse is the perfect location for exploring Bath. We particularly enjoyed the sunny bedrooms and being able to walk to good cafes and restaurants. Communication with the hosts was swift and simple.”

This sprawling apartment, spread over three floors, has all the gorgeous bones of Georgian architecture and has been decorated exquisitely. Situated in one of Bath’s most picturesque squares, the festive twinkle of the lights of the city’s popular Christmas market can be spied from the windows.
What the guests say: “Amazing location, right in the centre of Bath. Can walk everywhere easily. Beautiful home, looks exactly like the photos. Amazing touches like having a bathrobe for everyone and flowers on the kitchen table when we arrived.

Wyatt House
Wyatt House, with its spacious four-storey Georgian interiors is the perfect place for a relaxing retreat. There’s a full kitchen and ample dining area, plenty of classic books to lose yourself in, and a roll-top bath – our favourite luxury! There are plenty of vinyl records in the sitting room, adding to the cosy comforts.
What the guests say: “Chris was a wonderful host. Communicative, accommodating and very helpful. We had a really lovely stay. The house is spacious, very comfortable and immaculately clean, with top notch amenities throughout the house. Situated in a wonderfully picturesque location. I would highly recommend.”

Riverview Flat
The most spectacular feature of this gorgeous Georgian property is the sweeping views of the city and the sound of rushing water over the weir from the dining and living area. The quaint gallery space above the living area provides a quiet nook to relax in. Cosy fireplaces, carefully chosen artwork and plush furnishings help to create an oasis of calm in this riverview flat.
What the guests say: “What a beautiful apartment! The view is absolutely stunning – I would argue maybe one of the best in Bath. The location is in the centre, so super convenient. You are given a parking permit, so no need to worry about where to park or the cost. I will definitely stay here again when returning to Bath.”
Jane Austen House
A dream for Jane Austen fans, here’s your chance to stay in a house that the author once lived in. It was here, during the period 1801-1805, that Austen started to pen her unfinished novella ‘The Watsons’.
The house has been beautifully restored, retaining original period features alongside unique, modern design touches and an abundance of artwork. Original Georgian panelling, rosewood furniture, Victorian armchairs, a Louis IV double bed and much more, make staying in this house a chance to step back in history.
This is my favourite and I’ve bookmarked it for our next UK road trip.
What the guests say: “The building you are staying in is in of itself a beautiful place to be without the knowledge of its previous, famous, residents. When you learn that, it definitely bodes for a memorable trip with all the trimmings you could ask for. Unless you are going to pick the highest-end 5* hotel, I’d recommend this stay over any other local alternatives.”
Coach House Studio
Just opposite, calm and quiet Henrietta Square is the modern and airy Coach House Studio. Although compact, the open plan living area is well crafted to provide all you need, from a full kitchen with espresso machine and pretty crockery, to a cosy living and dining area, and a spotlessly clean white-tiled bathroom.
What the guests say: “I would highly recommend Holly and Peter’s place. The location was perfect – walking distance from everything. The space was beautifully decorated and immaculate. We slept really well and it was so quiet.
“We really appreciated the thoughtful touches such as milk and water in the fridge when we arrived. We would definitely stay again if we returned to Bath.”
Great Pulteney Street Georgian Apartment
This Georgian apartment on Great Pulteney Street has an open-plan living-dining and sleeping area, well designed to create separation between the two. We had an amazing time and Louise was an excellent host who was happy to help at all times and even suggested places to visit, which was really handy as we had travelled a far way and weren’t sure what to do with our time to make the most of it.

Overlooking the Kennet and Avon Canal is this cute, architect-designed Tiny House. A whole host of avian wildlife can be spotted just from the windows and the area surrounding the canal is a paradise for birdwatchers.
Even though the Tiny House is small, the bedroom has a large king-size bed and even a futon bed in the living room to sleep extra guests. Just five minutes walk away from Bath Spa train station and the city centre, the tiny house is your oasis of calm in the city of Bath.
What the guests say: “Kate has been amazing from the start to finish. The place was so stylish and clean. Even left us a sweet note as this was our mini-honeymoon which had got cancelled. I would definitely be coming back. The location is so good!”

What the guests say: “We had a fantastic stay in this spectacular Airbnb. By far the best place I have stayed in for a very long time. There was a lovely welcome package provided which was very thoughtful.
“All the rooms were designed to a very high standard with plenty of space for the guests. The location was perfect just near the Crescent and within a short walk from all amenities. You must stay in this place – it’s an experience in itself.”

Shepherd’s Hut With Hot Tub
This quaint and charming Shepherd’s Hut comes complete with a hot tub to relax in after a long day of sightseeing in Bath. It has all the modern facilities like Netflix, fast Wi-Fi and Apple TV. The Love Hut, as it is called, is located in a pretty, flower-filled garden, and the interior has a clever, compact design.
What the guests say: “I would highly recommend booking into The Love Hut. It is well positioned for a short walk into the city centre. It is a unique place to stay if you are looking for a romantic break. Robyn is a very helpful host and any questions we had were answered promptly. The hut is well equipped and very clean. The hot tub is amazing!”
